There's no doubt that just about anyone who plays golf and has thought about coming to Oregon has heard about Bandon Dunes. What many don't know is that there are several other great golf courses located along the Oregon Coast.
Here are just a few of the courses we include in our trips:
Sandpines Golf Links -- Nestled amidst the wind swept sand dunes and towering pines, golf does not get any more breathtaking than Sandpines Golf Links. Sculpted by nature, this wonderful scene provided a delightful canvas for world-renowned golf course architect Rees Jones to create a magnificent array of holes.
Bringing the natural feel of the pine forest and crystal blue lakes into play on the outward nine gives one the feel of golf commonly found on the Monterey Peninsula or the woods of the Carolinas. The inward nine takes you back to golf's more traditional arena - the links land. Using the natural lay of the land, Jones brought the dune element to the forefront of the game from tee to green. Challenging yet generous, this course offers beginners and experienced golfers alike a chance to test their skills and indulge their senses.
Ocean Dunes Golf Links -- Ocean Dunes was built by noted architect William Robinson to be fair yet challenging under a variety of conditions. Emerald fairways wind over, around, and thru wild dunes bordered by Gorse, Heather, Shore Pines and native Sea Grasses. Pot bunkers guarding small greens and narrow fairways serve to both confound and delight the enthusiasts who play here. And, If you’re really lucky, the wind might blow - as they say in Scotland, “Nay wind, nay golf. As with any true links, the course is extremely well drained and playable - even under the wettest conditions – year round.
The coastal climate here in Florence is mild. Not too hot in Summer, and not too cold in Winter. Our Old Town area is especially picturesque, with fine lodgings, restaurants, and galleries. Many other attractions such as Heceta Head Lighthouse are just minutes away.
Salishan Resort -- Golf at Salishan isn't just your typical round of 18. With stunningocean vistas, challenging holes, and some of the finest scenery on the Oregon coast, a round at Salishan is an entire Oregon golf experience. Our course is widely recognized as one of the best in the Northwest, a superior Oregon golf resort property.
With a 2003 renovation by PGA golfer Peter Jacobsen's company, Jacobsen/Hardy Golf Course Design, Salishan became a world-class golf vacation resort. Featuring an award-winning pro shop, multiple tournaments, a fantastic bar and grill, a practice range and green, and knowledgeable staff, Salishan is your ticket to the best in Oregon golf, and a great coastal golf resort.
"Traditionally, Salishan is known to golfers as a challenging, firm, fast-playing course. We were emphatic about keeping those aspects in place while also raising the level of playability on the course and taking advantage of the natural beauty of the course’s surroundings," said Peter Jacobsen, PGA Tour Member and founder of Jacobsen-Hardy Golf Design
Gearhart Golf Links -- Gearhart Golf Links is an 18 hole, public course located on the beautiful North Oregon Coast in Gearhart. The course, opened in 1892 as 3 holes strewn across the sand dunes, is the oldest course in the northwest and arguably in the Western United States.
To this day, the course retains a classic Links flavor, with a hint of traditional Northwest design features. It plays 6218 yards from the blue tees and 5353 yards from the red tees.
